CinnaRN works fully on your device by default. Your imported notes and the questions you ask the AI tutor never leave your phone. The only thing that ever leaves — and only if you switch on Backup & Sync — is your study progress, backed up under an anonymous ID so you can restore it on another device. We never sell your data.
You can use CinnaRN without signing up, signing in, or giving us your name or email. If you turn on Backup & Sync, we create an anonymous account for you automatically (a random ID — no email, password, or login); a display name you choose is included in that backup so it follows you across devices.
The app saves your progress locally: answers and scores, streak and study history, saved and missed items, your focus settings and exam date, any display name, and the notes or documents you import. This lives in the app's private storage and is removed if you uninstall the app or use "Reset progress" / clear the app's data.
Backup & Sync is OFF by default. If you turn it on (Profile → Backup & Sync), your study progress — answers and scores, streak, mastery, your review schedule, saved/missed items, focus settings, exam date, and display name — is backed up to our cloud (hosted on Supabase) so you can restore it or continue on another device. It is stored under an anonymous random ID, with no email, password, or login, and is readable only by your own anonymous session. You can turn it off any time; turning it off stops further backups.
Even with Backup & Sync on, your imported notes, PDFs and photos, the documents you import, and the questions you type to the AI tutor are NEVER uploaded — they are processed only on your device. Only the small study-progress summary above is synced.
The on-device AI tutor and the document importer run locally using bundled models. Your questions and your imported files are processed on the device and are not sent to a server.
The core app works offline. The internet permission is used to: optionally download the larger conversational AI tutor model; process in-app purchases through Google Play; fetch content updates; and, only if you enable Backup & Sync, back up the study progress described above.
Payments are handled by Google Play. We receive your subscription/entitlement status (so we can unlock paid features) but never your card number or full payment details, which Google manages.
If you enable study reminders, they are scheduled and shown locally by your device. We don't use a push server and don't track whether you opened them.
CinnaRN does not include third-party advertising or cross-app tracking SDKs, and does not build an advertising profile of you.
CinnaRN is intended for nursing students and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
You're in control: edit or clear your profile any time, export a copy of your data from the Profile tab, reset your progress, or uninstall to remove everything from the device. You can turn Backup & Sync off whenever you like; to delete a backup already in the cloud, email us and we'll remove it.
