Dosage, IV rate, drip rate and weight-based dosing — the four calculations the NCLEX actually asks. Each one shows its working line by line, because a bare answer tells you that you were wrong and nothing about where.
Ordered dose ÷ dose on hand × quantity. Enter the three numbers and the working is shown line by line, so you can find where your own arithmetic went a different way.
For gravity tubing, counted by eye. Volume × drop factor ÷ time in minutes. The drop factor belongs to the tubing and is always given in the question.
For a pump, which is programmed in millilitres per hour. Total volume ÷ time in hours. When the time is given in minutes, convert before dividing — not after.
Dose per kilogram × weight, then desired over have for the volume. The pound-to-kilogram step is where this one goes wrong.
